I found this in my attic. My grandfather gave it to me maybe 8 years ago and I have never used it.

Over the past few days I have been watching What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann online.  I would like a 4x5 or 8x10 camera, but it is completely impractical when I ride my bicycle to most places I take pictures of.   Even medium format is hard on a bicycle.  Maybe next summer on the island, when I’m right there.

From today on the island. While walking to the ferry we saw deer! I also found a dead snake that is currently in Yuula’s refrigerator and tomorrow we will bring it back to the island to put it in photographs.  I rode my bike home with the Pentax 67 body and two lenses and I think I will be in pain forever, it is not at all a bike friendly camera.  In January I am going back to...

Mom Jeans was fantastic. My dad had a fox coat made for my mom. It is enormous. Not because she was enormous, but I guess that was just the style then. Afterward a girl on many drugs came up to me and fondled it and shared her fur knowledge with me, which was extensive.

The above is a photograph from the Cheltenham Badlands that I took on Christmas in 2006. Those are the roots of my favourite tree in the world. The tree used to be a full tree - look - but when I saw it yesterday it was decapitated. It is only a thin trunk now with these enormous, climbing roots. I did an interview for the Fjord Artists’ Space. You can read it on the website. ...

Yuula, Victoria and I drove out to the Cheltenham Badlands today, all with projects we wanted to work on. My shutter speed dial broke, but the badlands were beautiful, especially when the sun sunk low and the shadows became so long. On the way home we saw a German Shepherd who looked like she had been in the woods for months and she had a huge sore or bite mark on her, her fur was all mats and...

My sister and I drove from Orange County to Las Vegas, stopping in Barstow, stopping in Baker where cigarettes are only five dollars, taking a gravel road into nowhere for a while to look at the low desert plants, seeing a small rabbit run through a junkyard behind a sad motel, listening to the Rolling Stones and Iggy Pop and Ladytron, driving past the world’s largest thermometer, past the...

In preparation for Mom Jeans! I found a pair of my mom’s glasses from the 80s and I have stolen them. They are fantastic, as is the rest of the planned outfit. Moving around so much and finally settling in basement-free California has left me with slim pickings, but some of the best things were saved. I look creepily like her, we have the same cheekbones and witchy nose, same everything...

Up there is Rabbit Island and some mountains. I’m very sick but I went into the forest to take photographs and the landscape here is insane. The trees! I taught my dad how to use a light meter so he could help me and suddenly he had all kinds of ideas about what I should be doing. Later I swam in the ocean and then laid in the grass and common waxbills hopped around me, which are...
