The Scent of Love
The Mood That Passes Through You
The Heart Asks Pleasure First
I was 13 when The Piano came out I think and I played through the score for hours and hours and hours on my electric piano. It was the first music I really cared about playing. I’ve played the songs so much that my hands remember every song even now. The music is quite simple because it was written for...
If you are stabbed, shot, have something amputated, go into cardiac arrest or have a stroke, don’t worry because I am now certified in First Aid, CPR & AED. You should see my slings. It scared me enough to want my own AED.
Landmannalaugar
It was like the earth was breathing on you. If you walked through the cloud your clothes, your face, everything became wet.
Tonight was the second performance of the symphony season and Christopher Plummer narrated Walton’s Henry V. He wore a purple velvet jacket. Captain Von Trapp!! The performance was recorded for CBC Radio if you are interested.
Highlands.
Swimming.
This is boiling mud. These things are huge, bigger than me.
Some sheep.

The hardest day.
Tomorrow is the funeral. We ate at Heaven 23 and you could see all of Göteborg, the ferris wheel where I got my first real kiss right below us.
On the last day in Iceland we went to the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport. It was much better than I expected, very beautiful, the architecture was so good, like many buildings there, even ordinary summer houses. We ran out in the cold air and into the hot water and swam around with silica mud all over our faces.
When I got home there was a giant campaign sign on my lawn. I had agreed to...
Tomorrow I am going to Sweden for the funeral. This time I am not anxious for it to be over, I’d rather stay here and pretend nothing happened.

teenageart:
According to my journo friends, he hasn’t turned up yet.
I hope he’s just with some very hospitable Dutch prostitutes.

I snorkelled at the continental rift at Silfra. It was incredibly fucking cold. You wear a dry suit which I had never worn before, but it is like a boa constrictor snowsuit. While walking to the water I wondered how much the suit would cost to replace if I cut it off. But it was alright once in the water, just a little cold, except the gloves, which are not waterproof and 30 minutes of my...
The sinking of the MS Estonia was the worst disaster in Swedish history. My childhood best friend used to take this boat. I think everyone knew someone directly or second hand who died. Knowing someone who survived is much, much less likely.
MS Estonia: The Survivor’s Story (Swedish, documentary)
The Sinking of the Estonia (English, dramatization, questionable accuracy!)
We took the F225 to Landmannalaugar after watching a lot of YouTube videos on river fording. The F225 is the most beautiful road I have ever seen. It is like driving on the moon or after the apocalypse, completely alone for three hours, except for two or three superjeeps and some boys on dirt bikes passing by. The wind blows so hard the car shakes and you pass lava fields and the foothills of...
Waiting for the cash exchange place to open made us so late that we put off the scary driving until tomorrow and instead drove to Þingvellir. On our way we stopped by the side of the road and climbed a steep hill full of rocks and ice crystals and over the hill was the greenest valley, huge, and full of sheep. And I’m so glad we did because Þingvellir and Gullfoss were really boring....
Chrissy and Kyle from Spark Box Studio started a magazine called Square2 and we did an interview about my pictures and why I love landscapes. There’s also a poem by Sarah Pinder, who makes these lovely little zines, and work by all kinds of other people. I did a residency at Spark Box almost two years ago and it was great then and since then they’ve moved to a farm so I can only...
