A Chrysler 300 with a Bentley grille and emblem drove behind me on my way home. Stupid world.
Tiny jumps on Jade. We’re slow as molasses in this video but you can still see how beautiful she is. This was the first time I jumped her I think and I forgot my gloves and there is blood all over the reins! The only other video I have with her is my fall and I can’t look at it. Maybe soon I’ll have one that shows what she can really do, aside from bunny hops and throwing me into...
Jumping is great again! Fear conquered.
The show horse I ride is named Jade. There are only two other people who ride her, both competitive riders, and my trainer is talking to them to figure out how she is responding to our different styles of riding and what’s working. We think that she might have some pain somewhere that is making her buck when asked to canter while doing flatwork, but...
The TTC commission fired Webster! What is happening to our city??

We sat next to the fire on the beach while sausages cooked on pitchforks and bacon-wrapped dates full of cheese warmed inside foil and Louise was sitting with me and today she still smells like smoke.
I went to the auto show to look at the A4 allroad because I want it.
Auto shows! They’re funny. I was forced to attend an unusual and unkind number of auto shows as a child, scouting trips for my dad. They’re campy and nostalgic and also a little gross. It’s 95% men, men salivating over Continental Supersports and the One-77 and taking pictures of themselves giving double middle...
Did you know that chickens cluck to their unborn chicks while they are still inside the egg and the chicks chirp back?? No more eating chicken.
Riding a happy horse on Saturday mornings is the best.
Three dogs have died of poisoning in Leslieville. Be careful!
Today Toronto Life published an article called Almost Rich: an examination of the true cost of city living and why rich is never rich enough. It looks at the spending habits of some people in Toronto who make around $196,000 a year, which is what it takes to be in the top 1% of earners in Canada. I think that the ‘top 1% of earners’ statement is probably based on a single earner and...
I thought that my flu or bronchitis or whatever it is at this point was maybe just in my head by now because it’s been so long so I drove out to the stable because if I was ever going to feel fine it would be while riding. I rode a small lesson horse and after so long on my show horse I felt so low to the ground, but she had some fun jumps, predictable take offs and I’m still working...
Take Shelter was a very beautiful movie.
I’m still sick. I’m thinking of maybe having my lungs x-rayed. All I’ve done for a week has been reading about Lana Del Rey and transit. I took the Sheppard subway once (against my will) and once you get off the creepy empty subway you’re like on the side of a highway. I don’t understand how mass transit is even supposed to work up there, there’s nothing around.
At least I have this.
I can’t go riding, I can’t go running, I can’t go to work, I can’t talk, I can’t have friends over, I have only soft, rubbery codeine to make anything worth it right now.
Go get flu shots! The flu is very, very terrible and I spent all morning wondering if Dignitas would take me now.
I need friends with hardier immune systems who won’t infect me with their diseases. Thanks a lot, jerks.
I embraced my YMCA membership too enthusiastically and now I can’t walk.
A woman’s body was found rolled up in a carpet in the Junction. The police say she was not murdered, which only makes it more mysterious and maybe even more terrible.
I went to yoga in what I thought where opaque tights but I was mistaken.
